Woodrow

The neighborhood of Woodrow in Staten Island's South Shore is often considered part of western Huguenot. Woodrow is bordered by the neighborhoods of Rossville, Annadale, Arden Heights, Charleston, and Prince's Bay. Its access to the Veterans Parkway and the Outerbridge Crossing, as well as its newer, more contemporary homes, makes Woodrow an increasingly sought-after location in the South Shore.

Woodrow is home to New York's first Methodist church, which was built in 1771. Much of Woodrow's residential construction has taken place within the past three decades, making Woodrow popular among those looking to live in a more modernized community.

The neighborhood is about three miles long from one end to the other, divided into sections by Woodrow Road and Huguenot Avenue. Businesses and amenities are spread around throughout the community. Bloomingdale Park is situated in the western corner of the neighborhood and provides residents with 136 acres of woods, walking/jogging trails, sports courts, and a handicapped-accessible playground. Woodrow is also close to the Grand Oaks Country Club and South Shore Golf Course, as well as other recreational areas like Wolfes Pond Park and Clay Pit Ponds State Park Preserve.

Woodrow  is close to a number of public and private schools for K-12 students, as well as institutes of higher learning, such as Wagner College, St. John's University, and the College of Staten Island. Additionally, there are plenty of daycare and preschools serving the neighborhood.

The Staten Island Railway makes many stops in the South Shore area, including the Huguenot station, which is located in the southern part of the neighborhood on Huguenot Avenue and Drumgoole Road. Veterans Parkway runs straight through the neighborhood, making it easy for commuters to reach the Outerbridge Crossing into New Jersey, and the West Shore Expressway will take drivers north to the Staten Island Expressway and onto the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Woodrow is also served by local buses as well as an express buses to Manhattan.
