Throughout the course of the development, Freshkills Park is slated to offer visitors hiking trails in state land nearly three times the size of Central Park. Heartland Village is served by public schools, while private schools are located in nearby neighborhoods. Heartland Village has a large number of schools for K-12 students, as well as an institute of higher learning - the College of Staten Island.
