Bulls Head

Situated within the Heartland of Staten Island, Bulls Head is a neighborhood bordered by Graniteville, Westerleigh, Manor Heights, and New Springville. The area is delineated by the Staten Island Expressway to the north, Graham Avenue to the west, and Richmond Avenue to the south, which connects to Eaton Place and Victory Boulevard to the east.

Bulls Head was once farm country and one of the agricultural centers of Staten Island, along with the neighborhoods of Willowbrook and Graniteville. However, farmland transformed into densely populated residential streets with the construction of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge in the mid-1960s. Bulls Head remains a popular area for those looking for the convenience of commuting on and off the island while still enjoying the atmosphere of small-town living. There's no shortage of amenities in and around Bulls Head. Not only do major roads such as Richmond Avenue and Victory Boulevard provide residents with shopping, restaurants, and services, a number of other retails shops and businesses dot the other streets that criss-cross through the neighborhood. Bulls Head is also surrounded by acres of parkland, including Willowbrook Park and the William T. Davis Wildlife Refuge, not to mention the College of Staten Island's park-like setting. School-age children can attend public school right in Bulls Head, or parents may choose to enroll them in a private school nearby. Bulls Head has a large number of schools for K-12 students, as well as an institute of higher learning - the College of Staten Island.

Residents who commute will appreciate Bulls Head's proximity to the Staten Island Expressway that borders the neighborhood to the north. Car-commuters can make it to the Verrazano Bridge in just a little over ten minutes, or they can hop on Victory Boulevard and reach the St. George Terminal in about 15 minutes. Both the Bayonne Bridge and the Goethals Bridge are about five minutes away from Bulls Head. Local and express buses serve the Bulls Head neighborhood on Richmond Avenue, Victory Boulevard, and Lamberts Lane.
